System restore | Command prompt

System restore can be run from the command prompt in Windows.
This holds true for Windows XP as well as Windows Vista. Let’s say you’ve booted into Windows normally and your background is gone, no icons, no taskbar and no Start button.
Just bring up the task manager by hitting CRTL, ALT and DEL.
