Air miles just aren’t worth it for me. It’s kind of sad really as my air miles card was my first ever rewards program that I joined in January of 1996. Almost 15 years later I had accumulated only 551 points spending a notable $11,000 to reach that number. 551 air miles didn’t get me much, I redeemed them for $75 in gift certificates at Chapters and closed my account. There’s a lot of cards I carry in my wallet that don’t really do much for me and I’m working on redeeming for whatever I can and getting rid of them. Petro Points, Staples, you name it, the rewards you get aren’t worth the space these cards take up.
The best reward card I’ve ever had is the PC financial MasterCard. In the past five years I’ve accumulated almost $700 of free merchandise which is awesome. It makes more sense to just have one rewards card that you can use everywhere instead of having to go out of your way or shop at specific places which to me is just a pain in the ass.
